Useful Information for Graduation Day

A graduation ceremony is a formal occasion and it is strongly suggested that all graduands dress appropriately.

• Hoods - Some graduands find their hood tends to slide off the shoulders. As hoods come with a loop at the front, it is recommended that a top with buttons be worn so the hood can be attached to the button.
• Colour - For the colour conscious, it is worthwhile to become familiar with your Faculty hood colour prior to graduation to avoid a clash of colour.
• Footwear - Generally graduands will need to negotiate stairs during the ceremony, therefore appropriate footwear should be considered.
• Hair - All graduands will be required to wear a trencher/bonnet. A simple hairstyle will allow the trencher to sit properly. If you are planning to wear your hair up in a bun, please make sure it sits low at the back of your head as the trencher will rest in the middle of your head.
